Tips on blogging HELP ME!

Ok I'm an artist not a blogger but everyone I know if you want to sell artwork online then you have to have a blogger page!  I have no idea what I'm doing here even though I love to write but my main passion is painting.  Can anyone give me a helping hand on how to write a successful blog that can go viral!? How can I gain followers and internet success so to speak.
