Art, Creating Beautiful Piece and Boredom of the Same

I love to paint and that's straight forward and no question there but what to paint is often a debate, of course you should paint whatever inspires you, abstract, portraits, landscapes, pets and the list is endless but as an artist you have to think about what sells.  This may not be so important to some but for artist like myself, I am inspired to paint more when I sell a piece.  It's like having the confirmation from another individual yes, your art is good so I'm going to give you my hard earned cash for one of your artwork!  I paint on regular basis when the time allows and regardless of many sales I have had over the years, every time I sell a painting to this day, I feel so happy that it makes me feel like an artist.  I am an artist, I know this but without that all important sale I feel like a hobbyist and I don't like that feeling because if I become a hobbyist then I'm not sure I will keep painting!
